We are working in partnership with a leading Facilities Management organisation to recruit an experienced Senior PFI Lead to take ownership of a major Healthcare PFI contract in East Anglia. This is a critical senior role, responsible for running and stabilising a mid-cycle PFI contract, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring contractual, commercial, and operational excellence across the estate.
About the Role
The Senior PFI Lead will have full accountability for the performance of a complex healthcare PFI contract, acting as the primary interface between the Trust, the SPV, investors, and service delivery teams. You will be responsible for turning around and optimising contract performance, rebuilding trust with stakeholders, and ensuring the contract delivers against its commercial and service obligations. The role requires a strong understanding of PFI project agreements, investor requirements, and healthcare compliance standards. This position is highly autonomous and will suit an individual comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level, influencing outcomes, and leading improvement in challenging contractual environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Full operational and commercial leadership of a healthcare PFI contract
- Acting as the senior point of contact for the NHS Trust, SPV, investors, and service partners
- Taking ownership of underperforming or complex contractual issues and driving turnaround strategies
- Managing and interpreting the Project Agreement, ensuring compliance across all obligations
- Building and maintaining strong, collaborative client relationships
- Leading governance meetings, performance reviews, and contractual forums
- Working closely with Facilities Management teams to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality service delivery
- Managing financial performance, budgets, variations, and commercial risk
- Ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, including HTMs and statutory requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in PFI contract leadership, ideally within healthcare
- Demonstrable success in turning around or stabilising problem contracts
- Strong understanding of PFI project agreements and investor requirements
- Experience managing senior client and stakeholder relationships
- Background within Facilities Management or hard FM environments
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at Board and Trust level
- Healthcare PFI experience essential; handback experience not required
