Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor – London, UK
We are looking to strengthen our Mechanical & Electrical team with a Senior Quantity Surveyor possessing excellent technical knowledge of common M&E systems within the built environment.
Role Overview
The role is based at our central London office with hybrid working arrangements available. You will join a small team, support project staff and clients across the UK with M&E related cost management services, and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration to ensure commercial quality.
- Lead valuations, variations, payment recommendations, and monthly financial reporting.
- Monitor commercial performance, identify risks or opportunities, and support corrective actions.
- Track contractual obligations, project changes, and financial risks, escalating when required.
- Resolve contractual queries, address challenges, and mitigate potential commercial disputes.
- Maintain cost data, contract records, and reports using TSA Riley systems and templates.
- Maintain clear, responsive communication with clients and delivery partners.
- Manage client expectations to support satisfaction and build strong, trusted relationships.
- Collaborate with project teams to support performance, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Manage commercial compliance and contribute to risk management practices in line with TSA Riley standards.
- Contribute to proposals, benchmarking, sector initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering quantity surveying or commercial services in a consulting or client‑side environment.
- Excellent technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems on building projects.
- Proven experience in specialist mechanical and electrical cost management roles.
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, ideally accredited by RICS.
- Professional accreditation with a relevant body such as the RICS.
- Full spectrum pre‑ and post‑contract duties experience, including cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration.
- Curiosity and adaptability to work across a variety of sectors, client accounts, and delivery contexts.
- Proficiency with digital tools for financial tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Known reputation for high‑quality work, and a collaborative, effective working style.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to support effective commercial delivery.
- Experience in agile environments and cross‑functional teams.
- Strong people‑management skills, capable of delegating, quality assurance, and supporting junior staff development.
