Become an integral part of our health and safety management team in this Associate Director level role in the Southeast region. You will work out of one of our London based offices in either central London or Croydon and split your time between the office, site and home.

The purpose of this Health & Safety Consultant role will be to work with a variety of clients and deliver a high standard of safety, health and wellbeing services. This includes audits, coaching and policy and risk assessment production.

We are seeking a candidate at Associate Director level with prior experience and qualifications (NEBOSH and IOSH) in a similar Health & Safety role within the construction industry who has strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of clients across multiple sectors. We require candidates to have a strong understanding of the Building Safety Act.

Overview of duties:

  • Carrying out health & safety audits at small to medium sized businesses using iAuditor/Safety Culture Software.
  • Strategic planning and the development and implementation of new systems, procedures and policies.
  • Producing reports and action plans.
  • Producing policies, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, safe working practices.
  • Helping Clients with SSIP Accreditations (CHAS, SMAS etc.).
  • Developing close working relationships with Clients.
  • Communicating at all levels from CEO to shop floor workers.
  • Delivery of training and coaching.
  • Accident investigations.
  • Advising on Wellbeing initiatives specifically aimed at the construction industry.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Prior experience of carrying out the Health & Safety Consultant role or a similar equivalent role with a reputable construction contractor, consultancy or developer is desired.
  • Experience of working in a Health & Safety role across a range of sectors within the construction built environment is desired.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with the Building Safety Act is essential.
  • Has the ability to be dynamic and solve problems.
  • The ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicate strategic recommendations.
  • The ability to quickly use and learn new client reporting systems.
  • Ability to review risk assessments in a working environment and advise on reasonably practicable control measures.
  • Knowledge of RAMS.
  • Good communicator with the ability to self-assess.
  • Demonstrably strong report and document writing skills.
  • Strong IT skills are essential.
  • Full UK driving license is essential.

Education/experience:

  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent is essential.
  • CMIOSH qualified or working towards Chartered Status is desired.
  • CSCS card is essential.
