Our client, a European Manufacturer of building automation systems is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic technical engineer to join the technical team. You will be joining the engineering team and take real ownership of projects from specification through to commissioning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Specification & design support β producing control strategies, V21 specification clauses, wiring schematics, and lighting layout designs for projects in different commercial sectors;
- Commissioning β on-site hands-on and remotely, working directly with electrical contractors to get systems live, guiding electricians to troubleshoot wiring issues, and project managing to handover;
- Technical product guidance β advising consultants and contractors on the right detector and control system solution;
- Supporting projects that need to talk to other systems (BACnet/IP, building management platforms), including scoping what points need to be exposed and how;
- Customer & colleague technical support β fielding day-to-day technical questions by phone and email from contractors, consultants, and our own sales team;
- Quotation technical input β supporting the sales team with the technical detail behind a quote or a design.
The ideal background will be a graduate in Electrical/Building Services Engineering/Electronics/Mech Eng, looking to specialise in lighting controls. You should be comfortable on the phone and in person with contractors and consultants and be a genuine problem-solver: able to work through wiring or configuration issues methodically. You should have good working knowledge of power supplies, relays, and sensors; Bluebeam & AutoCAD design software experience is a strong plus. Awareness of BACnet or BMS integration is a bonus.
The Company offers full product and systems training provided; previous hands-on experience with lighting controls. What matters more than the qualification is genuine technical curiosity and the ability to think through a problem rather than just look up an answer.
