Who are we?
TRYBE is a growing technology business transforming how spas, hotels and leisure businesses manage their operations and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Our innovative software helps hospitality businesses streamline bookings, manage their services and unlock new revenue opportunities.
Working with customers across multiple countries, we’re building technology that makes a real difference to the way the hospitality and leisure industries operate.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for talented people who want to make an impact, challenge the status quo and be part of an ambitious, collaborative team.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the VP Finance, this is an opportunity to step into a Financial Controller role where you can take ownership of core financial processes, improve how we work and help build the foundations needed to support our continued growth.
We are looking for someone with strong technical accounting skills and experience in a start-up or scale-up environment.
You might be an experienced Finance Manager or a qualified accountant ready to move into your first Financial Controller position.
You will have a good understanding of financial control and reporting, but just as importantly, you will be someone who enjoys getting hands‑on, improving processes and finding better ways of doing things.
There is no established playbook to follow, so you will have the opportunity to make your mark, work closely with the VP Finance and develop your experience as the business grows across the UK and US.
Hybrid working: 3 days in the office (Mon, Tues, Wed)
As the Financial Controller, you will be
- Financial reporting: Manage the month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations across Adyen and Xero, and the preparation of accurate management accounts.
- Billing and credit control: Oversee billing and credit control, working closely with our Fin Ops Executive to ensure processes run smoothly.
- Financial performance: Prepare budget-versus-actual (BVA) reporting, investigate variances and support the preparation of board reporting packs.
- Audit preparation: Help prepare the business for audits, ensuring financial records, supporting evidence and controls are in good shape.
- Financial controls: Develop and improve financial processes and controls as the business grows and prepares for audited-company requirements.
- Tax and compliance: Coordinate VAT, Corporation Tax and statutory compliance across our UK and US entities, working with external accountants and advisers where appropriate.
- Systems and automation: Identify opportunities to improve finance systems, integrations and processes, reducing manual work and improving accuracy.
- External relationships: Build effective working relationships with our external accountants and auditors.
- Budgeting and planning: Support the VP Finance with budgeting, forecasting and reporting to help the business make informed decisions.
Requirements
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with a strong technical grounding who is ready to take the next step into a Financial Controller role.
- Experience working in a start-up or scale-up environment, where you have had to be practical, adaptable and comfortable with change.
- A good understanding of month-end processes, management accounts, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting systems. Experience with Xero is beneficial.
- The ability to take ownership of your work, spot opportunities to improve processes and see things through.
- A hands‑on approach and the confidence to work independently, while knowing when to ask questions or seek support.
- The wow factor (not required but the stuff we love to see!)
- Exposure to multi-entity accounting, particularly across the UK and US.
- Experience improving finance systems, integrations or reporting through automation or AI.
