Fitter Welder – Scrap Yard – Nights
Location: Tipton, DY4 Pay: £17.00 per hour Ongoing Contract Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:30pm – 2:00am
We are recruiting an experienced Fitter Welder for an ongoing contract at a busy scrap metal recycling site in Tipton.
This is a hands-on role involving the fitting, maintenance, repair and welding of scrap processing machinery and heavy plant.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a scrap yard, recycling plant, waste processing, heavy industry or a similar environment.
The Role
- Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance and repairs.
- Weld and fabricate machinery, components and structures.
- Maintain and repair scrap processing equipment, including shredders, conveyors, balers, crushers and associated plant.
- Respond to machinery breakdowns and carry out fault-finding.
- Complete planned maintenance and routine inspections.
- Assist with mobile and heavy plant maintenance.
- Replace and repair worn or damaged components.
- Identify mechanical faults and carry out practical repairs.
- Safely isolate machinery before maintenance work.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
