Van Driver / Site Labourer – Permanent Position Location: Birmingham Salary: £14.50 per hour Hours: 42.5–55 hours per week Annual Earnings: Approximately £32,045–£41,470, depending on hours worked Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Start: Immediate The Role We are recruiting on behalf of an established Birmingham company specialising in the manufacture and installation of high-security shop fronts for jewellery companies, along with door entry and access control systems for schools, government buildings and other commercial premises across the UK. We are looking for a reliable and practical Van Driver / Site Labourer to join the company on a permanent basis. This is primarily a driving and site-based position, delivering materials and equipment throughout the UK and assisting the installation team on site. There will be a small amount of factory work when driving duties are not required. Key Responsibilities * Deliver security shop front materials and equipment to sites throughout the UK. * Collect materials and goods from suppliers. * Assist shop fitters and installation teams on site. * Assist with the installation of security shop fronts and door entry systems. * Use hand and power tools, including angle grinders. * Carry out basic site work, including cutting timber and fitting components. * Use a tape measure accurately to measure materials and components. * Remove and dispose of site waste in designated skips. * Carry out a small amount of factory work when driving duties are not required. * Ensure the company vehicle is kept clean, safe and roadworthy. * Carry out manual handling and general site duties. Requirements * Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. * Valid CSCS card. * Previous experience in van delivery driving. * Previous site labouring or construction experience. * Confident using hand and power tools. * Physically fit and capable of regular manual handling. * Reliable and flexible. * Willing to travel throughout the UK and stay away from home when required. DBS: An enhanced DBS check will be required because the company carries out work in schools and government buildings. The company will arrange and pay for the DBS check. Pay & Hours * £14.50 per hour * 42.5–55 hours per week * £616–£798 per week, depending on hours worked * Approximately £32,045–£41,470 per year * Overtime available * 1–2 paid nights away from home per week when required * Permanent, full-time position * Immediate start available The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be a dependable, hands-on individual who is comfortable driving long distances, working on building sites and helping with practical installation work. You do not need to be a skilled tradesperson, but you should have previous site experience, be confident using basic hand and power tools and be able to work safely and accurately.
