We are recruiting for a Finishing Operative to join a busy manufacturing finishing department producing high-quality decorative finished hardware accessories. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing, production, plating, chemical, or industrial experience. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
The role involves working within a plating environment using acids, alkalis, and specialist process chemicals, so applicants must be comfortable working in an industrial setting and following strict health and safety procedures.
The Role
- Operating and maintaining various equipment within the plating line
- Safely measuring and adding chemicals to process baths in line with procedures
- Setting and maintaining finishing process equipment and solutions within operational parameters
- Inspecting products for defects and ensuring conformance to specifications
- Carrying out general housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and organised department
- Supporting preventative maintenance activities, including vat clean-downs
- Following safe manual handling procedures, including lifting and carrying jigs and components
- Ensuring correct PPE is worn at all times within the plating area
- Completing process and safety paperwork accurately
- Supporting the wider team and carrying out other reasonable duties when required
Skills & Experience
- Has experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, finishing, plating, or a chemical environment (preferred)
- Can read and understand health and safety information, including safety/process documentation
- Has basic computer skills and can complete routine paperwork accurately
- Has good attention to detail and takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Is reliable, practical, and willing to learn
- Is comfortable working in an industrial environment with chemicals and strict safety procedures
Working Environment
This role involves working within a plating and finishing department using acids, alkalis, and process chemicals. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding role involving lifting and moving jigs to and from plating baths and jigging areas, standing for periods of time, and carrying out manual handling tasks.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:30pm
- Friday: 7:00am – 12:00pm
- 37 hours per week
- 30-minute lunch break
