A leading precision engineering manufacturer is looking for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join its skilled machine shop team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, and operate CNC machines including:
    • Fanuc-controlled machining centres
    • Mazak lathes and mills (Mazatrol)
    • Citizen machinery (Mitsubishi controls)
  • Interpret 2D engineering drawings and CAD data to generate accurate machining programs
  • Select tools, set up fixtures, and optimize cutting parameters
  • Measure and inspect parts using a wide range of precision equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Complete and understand quality control documentation
  • Optimize cycle times, reduce the number of machining operations, and contribute to process improvements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability

What We are Looking For

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in CNC operation
  • Strong skills in Fanuc, Mazatrol, and Mitsubishi controller programming
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
  • Confident in using a range of inspection tools and methods
  • Highly organized with good attention to detail
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements
  • Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with other departments

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM integration, especially Fusion 360 (we are in the early stages of implementation)
  • Experience with other CAM platforms (e.g., Edgecam, Mastercam)
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or Kaizen environments
  • Background in regulated sectors such as medical, automotive, aerospace, or defense
