ROLE OVERVIEW: We are looking for a motivated and target-driven Internal Account Manager to manage and develop a portfolio of existing B2B customer accounts while actively identifying and securing new business opportunities. This role is responsible for building strong customer relationships, increasing sales revenue through upselling and cross-selling, prospecting for new accounts, and achieving sales targets and KPIs. The successful candidate will be proactive, commercially focused, and confident in developing business through outbound activity and relationship management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day-to-day management and development of selected B2B customer accounts.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers to encourage repeat business and sales growth.
- Conducting regular outbound business development calls to both existing and prospective customers.
- Prospecting for new business opportunities and opening new customer accounts.
- Identifying upselling and cross-selling opportunities across the product range.
- Developing and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline through proactive lead generation and follow-up activity.
- Understanding customer needs and recommending the most suitable products and solutions.
- Working towards and exceeding sales targets, KPIs, and revenue objectives.
- Ensuring all customer interactions, opportunities, and account activity are accurately recorded within the CRM system.
- Liaising closely with the customer service team to process customer orders and resolve queries efficiently.
- Working collaboratively with the wider sales team to maximise account growth opportunities.
- Supporting the customer service team during peak “Back to School” periods, including handling customer calls, queries, and orders.
- Providing excellent customer service and maintaining a professional company image at all times.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Previous experience within account management, internal sales, or business development.
- Proven ability to prospect for new business and open new customer accounts.
- Experience working within a target-driven sales environment.
- Strong relationship-building and customer management skills.
- Confident communicator with excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, driven, and results-oriented with a proactive approach to sales.
- Ability to identify opportunities and successfully upsell products and services.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively.
- Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate CRM records.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
