We are seeking an Engineering Manager who has experience building great customer-focused products and applications at scale. In this role, you will use the latest technologies while focusing on delivering value for our users. We are looking for someone with experience developing software engineers and who knows how to grow them and make teams effective.
The Consumer Team is focused on upholding the core values of Trustpilot by building and maintaining users' Trust to make informed decisions. Our mission is to ensure our users have seamless access to genuine, high-quality reviews and personalised content that enhances their decision-making.
As Engineering Manager of this squad, you will lead a medium sized team and work cross-functionally with teams including Product Management, UX, Data Science and Data Analytics!
What you’ll be doing:
- Own the delivery of major initiatives within the team, ensuring alignment with sustainable engineering practices.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Define, track, and drive key success metrics for team performance, system reliability, and fraud detection effectiveness, ensuring measurable business impact.
- Manage the delivery of major initiatives and balance delivery with sustainable engineering practices.
- Work closely with Product, Data Science & Analytics, and other stakeholders.
- Define and prioritise deliverables for new products/enhanced functionality, coordinating cross-functional scoping and feasibility to support business and customer needs.
- Collaborate with the engineering leadership to engage, develop and retain skilled team members.
- Manage and mitigate high-risk elements of initiatives, clearly communicate issues, risks, and dependencies with stakeholders, escalating where appropriate.
- Ensure teams have high technical proficiency and aim for quality.
- Develop and support a great team of skilled and motivated engineers, setting clear expectations via constant feedback and 1:1 practices.
- Facilitate the advancement of team members through the creation of developmental opportunities and targeted skill enhancement via mentoring and professional coaching.
- Build a positive and consistent work environment based on transparency, accountability, and trust.
Who you are:
- You are currently working as an Engineering Manager in a Product/Customer-driven environment, where you have managed a small-medium sized team, on top of an experienced fullstack software engineering background.
- Extensive background in high-volume, scalable distributed systems.
- Experience with cloud services, such as AWS, or Google Cloud and best practices for scalable infrastructure.
- Experience developing and deploying Full-stack services including React, CSS, TypeScript, Node.js, Database management, and API integrations.
- Ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions, effect change, and align engineering efforts with business goals.
- Extensive stakeholder management experience with a focus on working with the wider business and the ability to create alignment across teams.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and growing your team and empowering each of them to be at their best.
- An aspiration to contribute to the future of Trustpilot, and the ability to make crucial technical decisions, in a pragmatic way.
