Join Acutest (part of Trustmarque) and help clients deliver change with known confidence. Acutest is a specialist assurance and testing consultancy focused on assuring software, business processes and IT solutions, helping organizations achieve the benefits of technology-enabled change faster. Our consultants work on high-profile programmes across the UK and multiple sectors, combining strong delivery capability with pragmatic assurance and governance.

We’re now looking for a Senior Technical Assurance Consultant to strengthen our technical assurance capability—especially across test automation, delivery improvement, and technical assurance delivery.

A Senior Assurance Consultant at Acutest, you will be expected to undertake the following:

  • Blend hands-on technical delivery with consulting, coaching and stakeholder leadership.
  • Be responsible for technical delivery across larger teams, providing oversight to projects and workstreams, supporting resource assignment, and ensuring the team applies effective engineering, assurance and delivery practices.
  • Manage and deliver test automation by supporting the implementation of automation approaches and framework setup, evaluating framework options, adapting them to project objectives, and leading teams in the application of appropriate tools.
  • Own core test governance artefacts, including creation/execution of project test plans and review of key project/requirement/design/test documentation, applying risk-based analysis to specifications and assets.
  • Assess and uplift client capability: complete automation assessments and test improvement reviews of client test/development teams, make recommendations, and influence improvements in delivery, DevOps, continuous delivery, release and path-to-live practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching: mentor and technically lead consultants/developers, provide guidance on coding practices appropriate to the situation, lead design approaches for complex problems, conduct code reviews, and coach teams on good scenario writing practices.
  • Configure and improve delivery tooling: set up and advise on Jira, Azure DevOps and test management tool configuration to meet specific project needs, including practical implementation guidance.
  • Advise technology and infrastructure choices, helping clients select and apply appropriate technology, and apply familiarity with requirements and design considerations for virtual infrastructure and how to test it.
  • Build new stakeholder relationships, influence client stakeholders, help them succeed in their organization, and communicate clearly across client, supplier and third-party teams.
  • Have a pragmatic, risk-based mindset: focusing effort on what matters most and providing clear reporting/insight to support decisions.

What is required:

We’re seeking someone who is bright, experienced and consultative—comfortable working with stakeholders of varying technical depth and seniority. You’ll likely possess the following skills and experience.

Essential experience:

  • Substantial hands-on experience working within development teams, with proven technical leadership across complex delivery environments.
  • Strong experience in software testing and software development lifecycles, with proven leadership in technical assurance, test automation and delivery improvement.
  • Practical experience designing or enhancing automation frameworks, evaluating framework and tool options, conducting code reviews, and influencing delivery improvements.
  • Setting up and maintaining test automation frameworks, including defining standards, operating procedures and maintainability practices using tools such as Playwright, Selenium and other appropriate automation technologies.
  • Setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure as code practices for automation frameworks, including source control, branching strategies, pull requests, code review workflows and controlled promotion of automated tests through environments.
  • Ability to conduct consulting-style test automation assessments and test improvement reviews, make practical recommendations, and influence changes in client delivery practice.
  • Understanding continuous delivery, DevOps and effective path-to-live processes, with the ability to advise clients on how to embed these practices.
  • Ability to train and support teams through scenario writing surgeries, listening skills, social styles, and team performance coaching.

Desirable experience:

  • Designing and implementing agentic AI processes for testing, including AI-assisted generation of acceptance criteria, BDD scenarios, test cases and automation scripts, with appropriate governance, human review, traceability and integration into CI/CD and QA workflows.
  • Knowledge of modern data engineering patterns, including medallion architecture, and the ability to advise on managing data quality within pipelines through validation, monitoring, controls, and assurance practices.
  • Awareness of LLM testing processes, including prompt and response evaluation, hallucination and reliability checks, bias and safety considerations, test data management, guardrail validation and governance approaches for assuring AI-enabled solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and their implications for testing and test automation, including environment provisioning, scalability, resilience, security, observability, test data handling, service integration and automation execution across cloud-based delivery pipelines.

We support clients across London and the wider UK, so travel is required, and we aim to make this workable alongside life outside work.
