The Role

As In‑House Legal Counsel, you will play a key role within a busy and growing Legal Department, supporting day‑to‑day legal operations and the wider business needs. Working closely with our Head of Legal, you will support a broad range of property, commercial and operational matters. A typical workday may include drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal documents; liaising with clients and external stakeholders; supporting our in‑house Sales and Purchase team; advising internal colleagues; and helping to identify, assess and mitigate legal risk. This is a varied and hands‑on role, offering the opportunity to broaden your in‑house experience in a supportive, fast‑paced and commercially focused environment.

The Person

We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded legal professional with a minimum of a law degree (or equivalent) and previous experience working within a legal team. The successful candidate will have a strong grounding in legal principles, be proactive, organised and detail‑focused, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver practical, solutions‑focused legal support. As this is an in‑house role, you will need to be comfortable working closely with non‑legal colleagues, understanding commercial priorities, and providing clear, pragmatic advice. You should be confident working both independently and collaboratively, with the ability to take ownership of matters and support the wider Legal Department. A genuine interest in the environment, sustainability and doing the right thing is very important to us, along with enthusiasm to continue learning and developing in a fast‑paced, growing business. Experience in property law, the housebuilding sector, or a green services environment, would be advantageous but is not essential.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of legal documents.
  • Providing practical, commercially focused legal advice to colleagues across the business.
  • Supporting the wider team to identify, assess and manage both legal risk and commercial opportunity.
  • Preparing clear and concise legal summaries for internal stakeholders, including Ecology, Finance, Business Development and Operations.
  • Working alongside the Business Development and Strategic Land teams to review residential and commercial property plans and identify any legal considerations.
  • Providing hands‑on legal support to our in‑house Sales and Purchase Department, including assisting with queries, documentation and transaction‑related matters.
  • Participating in internal and external meetings, providing legal input and support as required.
  • Building strong working relationships across the business and helping to ensure legal support is practical, accessible and aligned with Trustgreen’s objectives.

An additional day holiday for every year of service. A day off for your Birthday. Employee Assistance Programme.

The Opportunity

Be part of a company that values its team members and contributes positively to the community and environment. The benefits of being part of a small team extends well beyond the flexibility and variety you will get each day and the opportunity for you to reach your potential. If you’re ready to join a dynamic team and make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!
