As a Network and Firewall Specialist, you will deliver a major enterprise programme focused on reducing cyber risk through firewall remediation, Zero Trust segmentation, and least‑privilege access across the organisation. You will lead the identification and remediation of firewall and segmentation risks from audits and security assessments, including overly permissive rules, lateral movement exposure, DMZ weaknesses, and inadequate outbound controls.
The role is responsible for designing and implementing a secure segmentation model across user, server, management, Tier‑0, and DMZ zones, enforcing controlled inter‑zone communication and eliminating unnecessary east‑west traffic. You will own firewall policy governance, ensuring rules are business‑justified, least‑privilege, fully logged, and regularly reviewed, including removal of “any/any” access and reduction of Active Directory exposure.
Working with Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and third parties, you will coordinate remediation delivery and ensure alignment with audit requirements and enterprise security standards. You will also manage and optimise Cisco Secure Firewall (FTD/FMC) environments, including IPS enablement, logging, and operational firewall governance. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role requiring strong firewall engineering expertise and the ability to deliver structured remediation across complex enterprise environments.
Role Requirements
- Proven experience delivering large‑scale segmentation and firewall remediation programmes, including leading end‑to‑end delivery within complex enterprise environments. Candidates must demonstrate familiarity with relevant technologies, programme scope, and measurable outcomes achieved.
- Strong capability in firewall remediation strategy, including the ability to prioritise and reduce overly permissive rulesets, address “any/any” access, and implement risk‑based remediation while maintaining service continuity in live production environments.
- Hands‑on expertise with Cisco Secure Firewall technologies (FTD/FMC), IPS, and network segmentation, with the ability to operate confidently in complex, multi‑vendor or multi‑site environments. Candidates should be able to reference real‑world scenarios where they provided advanced support or delivered technical improvements.
This role is a 6 Month Fixed‑Term Contract. This is a Hybrid role working on site and also from home (the first 3 months during probation will be worked from the office full time, you will then move on to hybrid working from month 4).
In addition to receiving a competitive salary, for the right candidate this position will offer:
- Industry leading package
- 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays) in addition to an annual leave purchase & sale scheme
- Pension Scheme & Life Assurance
- Ford Privilege vehicle purchase scheme
