Purpose of the Role: The Senior Continuing Airworthiness Consultant is responsible for delivering world-class consulting, training and managed services solutions across the Continuing Airworthiness domain. The role combines deep technical expertise with consulting, project leadership and client relationship management capabilities to help aviation organisations move from compliance to high performance through the practical application of SMARRT MAP™, management systems thinking and regulatory intent. The role supports the development of Baines Simmons’ strategic capability in Continuing Airworthiness, contributes to product and proposition development, and builds trusted advisor relationships with clients across CAMO, AMO/MRO and wider aviation organisations.
Scope & Decision-Making Authority:
- Leads medium to large Continuing Airworthiness consulting and training engagements.
- Defines project plans, delivery milestones, resource requirements and delivery approaches.
- Provides technical leadership and mentoring to Consultants and developing Senior Consultants.
- Makes recommendations regarding product improvements, technical standards and customer solutions.
- Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Continuing Airworthiness capability development.
- Escalates contractual, commercial, regulatory or reputational risks where appropriate.
- Contributes to business development strategy, proposition development and market positioning.
- Represents Baines Simmons externally with regulators, industry groups and customers.

- Internal: Consultant Manager, Operations Director, Product & Service Development, Operations Business Development & Marketing, Principal Consultants and Consultant team.
- External: CAMOs and AMOs/MROs, Aviation operators, National Aviation Authorities, EASA / UK CAA stakeholders, Training delegates and client leadership teams, Industry working groups and professional bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver Continuing Airworthiness consulting, training and managed service projects to agreed quality, commercial and customer satisfaction targets.
- Provide technical expertise across EASA Part-M, Part-CAMO, Part-145 and associated Continuing Airworthiness regulatory frameworks.
- Develop practical and strategic solutions that improve safety, compliance, reliability, efficiency and operational performance within CAMO and AMO environments.
- Conduct organisational assessments, audits, gap analyses and performance improvement activities using Baines Simmons methodologies and SMARRT MAP™ principles.
- Support clients in developing effective Maintenance Programmes, Reliability Programmes, Integrated Management Systems and competence frameworks.
- Project manage complex client engagements, including planning, budgeting, risk management, governance and stakeholder communication.
- Support Business Development through pre-sales engagement, solution development, proposal support and identification of follow-on opportunities.
- Develop and maintain Continuing Airworthiness products, services and technical content in line with regulatory change and industry best practice.
- Mentor and support Consultants through coaching, competence development and technical sign-off activities.
- Deliver engaging classroom, virtual and facilitated workshop training for technical, supervisory and senior management audiences.
- Contribute to thought leadership activities including conference presentations, white papers, technical articles and industry working groups.
- Champion continuous improvement, cultural change and safety performance enhancement within client organisations and internally.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Significant aviation industry experience within Continuing Airworthiness, CAMO and/or AMO/MRO environments.
- Detailed working knowledge of EASA Part-145, EASA Part-M, EASA Part-CAMO, ICAO Annex 6, EASA 1321/2014 and associated Annexes, CAP747 and CAP1721, Part-21 interfaces relevant to Continuing Airworthiness.
- Demonstrable experience in Maintenance Programme development, Reliability Programme development, Continuing Airworthiness Management, Airworthiness Review processes, Safety and Compliance Management Systems, Organisational performance improvement.
- Experience delivering consulting engagements and/or technical training.
- Strong project leadership and stakeholder management capability.
- Experience engaging with regulators, senior managers and operational personnel.
- Excellent report writing, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience acting as Nominated Person, Technical Services Manager or equivalent leadership role.
- Experience with UK CAA and EASA bilateral arrangements and post-Brexit regulatory impacts.
- Experience developing MOE/CAME documentation and management systems.
- Knowledge of Safety Management Systems, Human Factors and Compliance Monitoring.
