The Association for Coastal Ecosystem Services (ACES) is a Scottish charity that specialises in supporting coastal communities in the Global South (especially Africa) to conserve and enhance their ecosystems.
Established in 2013, we were the first people to use money from carbon offsetting to enable long‑term, community‑owned mangrove conservation.
In 2017 we were awarded a United Nations Equator Prize for innovative climate solutions that are rooted in justice.
We have an experienced and happy board with strong scientific and management skills, that works well with the three paid staff.
We are seeking to recruit a new board member with financial skills who would be interested in serving as treasurer.
We have developed unique expertise in supporting and selling high quality, ethical carbon and biodiversity credits to a range of partners who share our values; we are fortunate in having higher demand for our credits than we can supply.
So we are in a strong position financially but hope to expand our operations to meet the demand from additional partner communities asking to work with us.
We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to climate justice and can bring skills in accounting/finances to help us deal with our increasing annual turn‑over.
