They are looking to appoint a Head of Construction to lead their London office. This is a senior, hands-on role that will initially involve managing your own projects while also building, mentoring, and developing the delivery team. As the team grows, the position will transition into a predominantly management-focused role, overseeing the performance and development of the team.

You will manage the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction planning and budgeting through to delivery and handover. This includes working closely with clients, designers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will also be responsible for implementing best-practice processes, monitoring risk, and driving continuous improvement across the team.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with proven experience in high-end commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects, capable of balancing strategic oversight with hands-on project delivery. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of multiple office fit-out and refurbishment projects across London, ensuring consistency, quality, and profitability.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all project phases - from pre-construction planning and design coordination through procurement, construction, and handover.
  • Own project financials at a portfolio level, including budget setting, cost tracking, forecasting, and profitability analysis across all projects.
  • Develop and monitor project programmes, ensuring milestones and completion dates are achieved while balancing resources across multiple projects.
  • Build, mentor, and manage the project delivery team, ensuring staff development, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and consultants, setting standards, reviewing performance, and resolving escalated issues.
  • Act as the senior client contact, maintaining strong relationships, ensuring expectations are exceeded, and representing the business professionally.
  • Drive compliance and quality across all projects, including health & safety legislation, building regulations, and internal standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks proactively, implementing solutions at both project and office levels to prevent issues escalating.
  • Review project outcomes and performance, implementing lessons learned to continuously improve delivery processes and client satisfaction.
