We are currently recruiting for a Production Supervisor to join a growing manufacturing business at an exciting stage of development. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen production performance, enhance quality outcomes, and develop team capability based in Smethwick. Please note this position is based on site, working Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week.
The role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of production quality, lead and develop Team Leaders, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. The salary for this position is between £35,000 to £40,000 DOE and the benefits include:

As the Production Supervisor, your key responsibilities include:
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop two Team Leaders to operate with autonomy and accountability
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning
- Build a high-performance culture focused on ownership and continuous improvement
- Support performance management in a fair and structured manner
- Quality & Compliance
- Take full ownership of production quality across all areas
- Lead root cause analysis for defects, non-conformances, and quality escapes
- Implement effective corrective and preventative actions
- Ensure adherence to ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025, EN1090) and relevant UK/EU regulations
- Ensure builds conform to engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications
- Production & Delivery
- Manage daily and weekly production output targets
- Allocate labour effectively and manage shift performance
- Identify and remove blockers impacting delivery, quality, or resource
- Escalate risks proactively to ensure targets are achieved
- Engineering & Technical Support
- Provide first-line support for mechanical and electrical build issues
- Liaise with engineering teams to resolve drawing queries and implement improvements
- Support the introduction of new products and engineering changes
- Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean and 5S principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Identify and deliver process improvements across production
- Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Health, Safety & Environment
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH
- Promote safe working practices across all production activities
- Support environmental initiatives and waste reduction
As the Production Supervisor, you will have:
- An engineering background (Mechanical or Electrical – apprenticeship, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent)
- Previous experience working within a supervisory or leadership position
- Proven experience within a production, assembly, or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable ownership of quality and process improvement
- Strong technical problem-solving ability with a hands-on approach
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
- Confident managing performance and having constructive conversations
- Understanding of quality systems and Health & Safety requirements
