How will you make an impact in this role?

Our infrastructure team sits at the centre of two complementary challenges: keeping business-critical production services running reliably and actively modernising how those services are built and deployed. You'll be doing both. This is a meaningful, high-visibility role: by maintaining and evolving business-critical services in scope of PCI-DSS, you will have a direct impact on the success of Trust Payments and will grow your wide-ranging expertise across both established and modern infrastructure practices.

Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will:

  • Maintain business-critical services running in AWS.
  • Improve business-critical services running in AWS by enhancing their reliability, scalability, security, and by further adopting fully managed cloud-native technologies.
  • Maintain and enhance an internal Platform that supports the development and deployment of business-critical services.
  • Maintain full compliance with relevant standards (including PCI DSS Level 1 and GDPR).

What We Expect of You, Day To Day:

  • Contribute to architectural design and discovery work.
  • Identify issues and enhancements, and propose realistic, achievable solutions.
  • Improve the maintainability, reliability, performance, and security of our systems.
  • Resolve operational issues in a timely and communicative manner: identify root causes, provide interim mitigations, and follow up with long-term solutions.
  • Join an on-call rota (Monday–Sunday; once per month on average).
  • Maintain awareness of all relevant best practices and apply them consistently.
  • Participate constructively in code reviews.
  • Support and mentor junior and mid-level colleagues; provide all team members with appropriate guidance.
  • Design, build, maintain, and improve the functions of our internal Platform.

No job description can cover every situation that may arise. To maintain an effective service, you may be asked to undertake reasonable tasks broadly consistent with those above, as directed by your line manager.

Qualifications:

  • AWS Services – Including (among others): VPC; EC2; ELB; Network Firewall; CloudWatch; RDS; KMS; IAM; S3; Lambda; Route53.
  • Networking – Working knowledge of the OSI model; ability to securely design and debug networks in the cloud using the Linux command line and, where appropriate, cloud technologies.
  • Linux System Administration.
  • Shell Scripting.
  • Configuration Management.
  • IaC Tools (ideally Terraform).
  • Version Control Software.
  • The Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Security – Including CIS Benchmarks, AWS Security Hub, and OWASP.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability products.
  • Ability to design, test, and implement appropriate solutions to business problems in the AWS Cloud.

Desired exposure:

  • Experience in financial services, ideally with payment gateways.
  • Experience facilitating annual PCI-DSS Level 1 audits.
  • Ability to develop modern, secure, and testable software using high-level languages (ideally Python).
  • Ability to write test code at all levels of the testing pyramid.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools.
  • Experience designing synchronous and event-driven architectures that are highly available, fault-tolerant, and performant.
  • Cloud-Native Containerization – Experience running production services using cloud-based container orchestration technologies.

We offer comprehensive benefits to support our team members and their families' well-being. Our robust benefits package includes (subject to local office benefits policy):

  • Be part of a dynamic, market-leading Fintech experiencing rapid growth.
  • Flexible work arrangements tailored to role requirements and business needs.

  • Extensive leave provisions, encompassing annual, volunteering, and birthday allowances.
  • Progressive family-oriented policies and benefits, including Maternity, Paternity and Adoption leave.
  • Robust compensation package, including pension scheme, healthcare plans, and life assurance.
  • Regular corporate events fostering team cohesion and company culture.
  • Diverse company culture and global working environment.
