Role Overview

Trust Payments is seeking a Data Scientist to join our growing Data Science Team. This is a mid‑level role suited to someone with demonstrable, hands‑on experience applying data science techniques in a commercial environment. You will design, build, and improve data products that address complex business problems, applying both traditional modelling techniques and emerging (Gen)AI approaches. Working across new and existing data sources, you will deliver analytical solutions that create real business value across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain data science products and models as part of Trust Payments' core product suite
  • Engage directly with clients to understand their requirements and present data‑driven solutions
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends and patterns in complex datasets
  • Identify and develop opportunities to build new data‑driven products and services
  • Collaborate with Payments, Loyalty, Web, and Retail product teams to uncover data patterns, inform customer strategy, and support product monetisation
  • Work alongside ML, Data Engineering, Automation, and Software Development teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions
  • Contribute to a data science community of practice within the business, supporting a data‑native culture and helping colleagues develop their skills
  • Keep up to date with emerging AI and machine learning developments, sharing insights with the wider team

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience with Machine Learning, Python, SQL, generative AI, and data visualisation techniques
  • Excellent analytical and technical problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to translate complex data concepts into clear, actionable business language
  • A collaborative approach, comfortable working across both technical and non‑technical teams
  • A curious mindset with an eye for identifying opportunities to create value from data
  • Experience with cloud‑native architecture, including AWS services, ETL/ELT processes, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
  • Familiarity with Amazon Bedrock and Amazon QuickSight
  • Experience in financial services or FinTech, ideally within payments (gateways, acquiring, and processing)
