The Deputy MLRO works closely with the MLRO to establish and maintain effective anti-money laundering systems and control procedures, taking full ownership of the MLRO function when required.
Responsibilities:
- Take on full MLRO responsibilities for Trust Payments (UK) Limited in the MLRO's absence.
- Collaborate with the MLRO to maintain Trust Payments (UK) Limited's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing policy, in line with evolving statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Work alongside the MLRO to ensure compliance with all money laundering requirements, including day-to-day oversight of AML operations and liaison with the FCA, NCA, and other Crime Agencies.
- Contribute to AML Audits, including follow-ups and logistics.
- Serve as the focal point for all AML-related activities within Trust Payments (UK) Limited, including driving implementation of recommendations identified during AML Audits.
- Play a key role in the Business Risk Assessment, ensuring profiles are adequately documented and compliant with Trust Payments (UK) Limited policies.
- Ensure all staff are aware of their AML/CFT obligations and TPML's policies and procedures.
- When acting as MLRO, ensure all internal suspicious activity reports are investigated promptly.
- Report suspicious activity to the NCA without delay upon determination.
- Follow up on Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with the NCA.
- Ensure monitoring and identification of suspicious transaction activity is adequate and compliant with regulations.
- Contribute to the delivery of the AML Monitoring Programme.
- Communicate findings to relevant heads of department in a timely manner.
- Drive timely remediation of identified findings.
- Incorporate findings as case studies within training activity.
- Ensure client due diligence at onboarding and on an ongoing basis meets the standards required by regulatory and legal obligations.
- Communicate any identified weaknesses to the MLRO and relevant heads of department.
- Conduct horizon scanning, providing timely updates on relevant developments or legislative changes that may require amendments to Trust Payments (UK) Ltd policies.
- Partner with the MLRO to develop and deliver appropriate AML training for employees.
Qualifications:
- Degree (or equivalent) or comparable work experience, with 1–2 years of relevant experience in a compliance or risk role.
- ICA or ACAMS Money Laundering qualification considered advantageous.
- Broad and/or in-depth technical compliance knowledge in AML/CTF.
- Knowledge of regulations and procedures covering both UK and EU.
- Experience in Banking and Financial Services, particularly in card schemes and alternative payments, considered an asset.

- Able to manage multiple priorities and deliver within established timeframes, working with a degree of autonomy.
