Trust Payments has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Automation Developer to join their team.
Location: Hybrid- Bournemouth, UK (3 days onsite per week)

Due to the nature of projects, this role requires onsite working for the first 3 months, after which a hybrid arrangement may be considered. Please note that all shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an in-person interview at our Bournemouth office.
How will you make an impact in this role?
We are seeking a Senior Test Automation Developer to join the Trust Payments Retail Team. You will play a key technical role within the test automation team, bridging the gap between automation development and technical leadership. You will design and deliver robust automated testing solutions, support and develop junior members of the team, and work closely with the Head of Technology to shape and develop the automation strategy. You will lead automation workstreams and contribute to ensuring the quality and reliability of Trust Retail's products ahead of production releases.
The Role:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and solutions, contributing to the overall automation strategy.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for the test automation team, providing guidance on best practices, tooling, and coding standards.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, supporting their growth and contributing to peer reviews of automation code.
- Assist the business in evaluating and recommending automation tools, frameworks, and processes.
- Assist in the planning and execution of automated regression cycles ahead of production releases.
- Identify gaps in automation coverage and implement improvements to expand and maintain the test suite.
- Contribute to the reporting of automation metrics and coverage, sharing data with management and wider stakeholders as required.
- Collaborate closely with development, QA, and product teams to ensure automation is embedded throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Lead specific automation workstreams or projects, managing delivery to agreed timelines with a high degree of autonomy.
What We Expect of You, Day To Day:
- Working knowledge of automation testing tools and software (e.g. Playwright, Selenium/Appium, Postman, JMeter).
- 3-4 years of experience in quality assurance/testing roles.
- Experience creating automated tests with Java.
- Experience creating and executing reusable automated test scripts in a Java Maven framework.
- Knowledge of databases, specifically MySQL.
- Understanding of Agile methodology and processes.
- Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments and how automated tests can be deployed and scaled within cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
- Experience with containerization tools (e.g. Docker) to support scalable test execution.
Desirable:
- ISTQB Advanced Level or Test Automation Engineer certification.
- Bachelor's degree in computing, mathematics, science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of web service APIs.
- Experience using Cucumber/ability to write test scripts in feature files using Gherkin language.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services relevant to test automation (e.g. ECS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch).
- Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines within a cloud environment.
- Experience writing automated component-level integration tests as part of the Maven build process (e.g. using JUnit/TestNG).
