Location: Hybrid- Bournemouth, United Kingdom
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
How will you make an impact in this role?
You'll work closely with development teams, product management, and clients to lead the technical development of our Retail products — including ePOS, Self Checkout, and Inventory Management. You'll translate complex requirements into clear, actionable user stories for onshore and offshore teams, and act as Subject Matter Expert across our Retail product suite.
What We Expect of You, Day To Day:
- Requirements Gathering & Definition: Collate, understand, and define business and technical requirements for BAU activity, projects, and change requests. Engage with project stakeholders to define, agree, and achieve closure on business and technical requirements. Conduct requirements workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions with clients and internal teams. Manage and communicate scope, ensuring change requests are properly assessed, documented, and approved before entering the development pipeline. Document API, integration, and data requirements in sufficient technical detail to support development without the need for further clarification.
- User Story Writing & Backlog Management: Translate requirements into detailed requirement definitions, well-structured user stories, and comprehensive acceptance criteria. Author user stories using a structured format, ensuring each story includes clear context, functional detail, edge cases, and testable acceptance criteria. Define and maintain a Definition of Ready and Definition of Done to ensure consistent quality of work entering development sprints. Manage and maintain the product backlog, continuously identifying and prioritising improvement opportunities, bugs, and future enhancements in collaboration with product management and stakeholders. Work with product management to prioritise the backlog, balancing client demand, strategic value, and technical feasibility.
- Agile Delivery & Team Collaboration: Actively participate in and facilitate development team stand-ups, backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Support release planning by coordinating feature readiness, documentation, and stakeholder communication. Work effectively across time zones with offshore development teams, ensuring requirements are communicated clearly in writing and that asynchronous working is fully supported through thorough documentation. Conduct remote requirements workshops, story walkthroughs, and sprint ceremonies with distributed teams.
- Process & Systems Analysis: Analyse and document both current (As-Is) and proposed (To-Be) business processes from an operational and systems perspective. Produce wireframes, workflow diagrams, or annotated mockups where necessary to support story clarity and shared understanding. Analyse system data and transaction flows to identify root causes of issues and inform solution design. Liaise with third-party vendors and integration partners to gather and validate technical requirements where applicable.
- Documentation & Training: Create product and feature documentation to support development releases and help centre resources. Provide onsite and remote training to end users following product releases and deployments. Produce and maintain internal knowledge base content, process guides, and technical specifications.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Support the business through user testing, providing expert guidance on expected system behaviour. Verify expected results during UAT and OAT, ensuring outcomes align with defined acceptance criteria. Identify, document, and track defects and issues arising during testing phases through to resolution.
- Commercial & Strategic Support: Identify costs and benefits of projects, contributing to business cases where required. Support pre-sales activity by acting as the Subject Matter Expert for the Retail product suite. Identify and document improvement opportunities, feeding a continuously prioritised product improvement backlog for future enhancements.
