We’ve partnered with one of the world’s leading music companies, who are building a brand-new platform that supports artists and creators worldwide. This isn’t a migration, a rebuild or a revamp. It’s ground-up, greenfield work on a problem with real financial complexity and global scale. It’s also the most foundational build in the organisation right now, so you’ll have a direct hand in the technical vision from day one.

The role involves joining a new team set to become its own vertical, working alongside product, design and research. As a Staff/Principal Engineer, you’ll set technical direction across multiple teams and influence a wider engineering community within the business. This is a technical leadership role in the Staff/Principal sense: shaping direction and standards, while staying close to the code.

  • Set the architecture and technical vision for a new platform, from initial design through to global rollout.
  • Translate strategy from stakeholders and product into clear technical direction.
  • Work across teams and with third-party organisations, so you’ll be front and centre in the business.
  • Raise engineering standards across the wider organisation, not just one team.
  • Mentor and support onboarding as the engineering function scales significantly over the coming months.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong full-stack, product-minded engineering. Python is used, but any mainstream OO language is fine, alongside React on the front end.
  • Cloud experience (They use AWS, but flexible).
  • A track record of designing complex, scalable systems across multiple teams and services.
  • Experience in a high-growth environment, ideally one where you’ve helped teams ramp up quickly.
  • Exposure to larger-scale complexity, not just small-company environments.
  • Confidence communicating with senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have: fintech, financial services or other regulated-industry experience; music industry experience. Curiosity and a genuine interest in music. The domain is complex, and it helps to care about the people you’re building for.

Why this one:

  • Ground-up build: A rare chance to build something completely new rather than inherit someone else’s legacy.
  • Real impact: Your work supports artists and creators around the world, and accuracy genuinely matters.
  • Growth: The team is expanding fast, with real scope to shape how engineering evolves.
  • Backing: A great culture and the stability of a global organisation, with the ownership of a start-up build.

Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned.
