One of the most prominent names in the music industry is hiring Principal Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping a newly emerging business-critical platform. As a Principal Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for a strategic product area that is evolving into a standalone engineering vertical. You will partner closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Designers, Researchers, and senior stakeholders to define and execute the long-term technical vision.
This is not a people management role. Instead, the focus is on technical excellence, cross-functional influence, and solving complex engineering challenges across multiple teams.
- Proven experience operating as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership position
- Strong product mindset with the ability to balance customer needs, business outcomes, and technical excellence
- Experience with modern object-oriented programming languages (Python and Node are used internally, though agnostic at this level)
- Front-end experience with modern frameworks such as React
- Experience designing and operating systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred, but other cloud platforms considered)
- Demonstrated success influencing multiple engineering teams without direct management authority
- Experience working within complex, scaled engineering organisations
Preferred
- An interest in music, media, or creator-focused products would be advantageous
- Exposure to fintech, financial services, payments, or regulated industries
- Experience in high-growth technology companies or rapidly scaling engineering organisations
