The opportunity We’re looking for a Principal .NET Engineer to provide hands‑on technical leadership within a growing R&D engineering team in Cambridge.
This is a senior individual contributor role. You won't be managing a large team. Instead, you'll be expected to define technical direction, solve complex engineering problems, influence architecture and mentor other engineers.
What you'll be doing


  • Defining technical approaches and architectural direction

  • Designing scalable, distributed systems using C#/.NET

  • Working with microservices, Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure

  • Driving best practices around infrastructure, automation and security

  • Solving complex technical problems end‑to‑end

  • Influencing architecture across a large-scale platform

  • Mentoring and supporting other engineers

  • Working closely with product and engineering teams internationally

  • Using and promoting modern AI‑assisted development tools such as Codex and Claude


What we're looking for


  • Extensive commercial software engineering experience

  • Deep C#/.NET expertise

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and microservices

  • Experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms and Infrastructure as Code

  • Strong knowledge of authentication and authorisation

  • Broad understanding of modern software architecture

  • Proven experience taking ownership of complex technical problems

  • Ability to provide technical leadership without formal people‑management responsibility

  • A genuine interest in using AI tools to improve the software development process
