We’ve partnered with a London-based startup that is effectively building the "operating system" for the property management industry. Currently, property teams lose about 75% of their day to repetitive, manual admin. This platform changes that by automating those workflows, allowing businesses to finally operate like modern digital companies. They are already live with pilot customers and are seeing massive demand as they scale toward 2026. For a Lead Engineer, this is a rare chance to come in as a foundational hire and build the technical backbone of a business with unicorn potential.

The Role
As the Lead Backend Engineer, you’ll own the development of the systems powering this platform. This is a senior, hands-on role where you’ll set the architectural direction and technical standards for the backend team from day one.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building for Scale: You’ll design the services and event-driven systems that handle real-time property workflows.
- Bridging AI & Reality: You will work closely with AI and data teams to turn complex, messy industry workflows into reliable, production-grade automation.
- Setting the Bar: Beyond writing code, you’ll mentor other engineers and establish the engineering culture as the team grows.
- Owning the Stack: You’ll be responsible for the health and performance of the systems our customers rely on every day.
Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their craft and builds things to last.
- Deep Experience: You have a strong background in backend engineering, specifically within the Node.js and TypeScript ecosystem.
- Leadership Instincts: You’re comfortable making the tough calls, setting a technical vision, and holding the team to high standards.
- Systems Thinker: You have a proven track record with distributed systems and know how to navigate the ambiguity that comes with an early-stage startup.
Why This Role?
- Foundational Impact: You’ll be leading the backend strategy at a company defining a new category of AI tools.
- Real Influence: You will work directly with the founders, with a genuine seat at the table when it comes to how the company is built.
- The Upside: Competitive salary plus equity, so you’re a true partner in the business’s success.
- A Real-World Mission: You aren’t just building another "nice to have" app; you’re building technology that solves a massive, structural problem in the UK market.
If you’re ready to build the engine behind a fast-scaling AI company, let’s have a conversation.
