Interaction Designer – OUTSIDE IR35 – SC Clearance Required
Start date: ASAP
Duration: 13 Months
Location: 1 day per week in Portsmouth rest of the month working from home
Rate: £550 per day OUTSIDE IR35
SC CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
Key Skills
The designer will need to be able to operate as follows –

  • Designs are typically data led and require elements of data analysis (think tabular data, charts, and data libraries)
  • Must be able to translate complex ideas around data manipulation into simple user journeys and interfaces and iterate accordingly.
  • Design work often centres on developing the \”concept\” of a product, rather than a specific user interface. As such, designs are typically low-fidelity wireframes complimented occasionally by clickable prototypes. There is a focus on identifying the steps a user will take to complete a task / journey rather than low level interactions (No need for the ability to produce highly polished design work or extremely interactive prototypes)
  • Given that the Kraken team exclusively develops products using Foundry there is limited freedom of design i.e. there\’s only so much UI flexibility. There should be an understanding that the Interaction Designer\’s (ID) output will need to be adapted for implementation in this restricted ecosystem.

Working style

  • The Interaction Designer needs to work extremely closely with the Business Analyst and User Researcher to develop a joint understanding of the existing business processes and user needs.
  • Must be an analytical thinker, willing to really get into the data / existing business processes to a similar level as a Business Analyst. There must be as much reliance on the BA as the UR to pull together a successful design.
  • Acceptance that rapid iteration is key.
  • Ability to context switch between projects. It\’s likely that the Kraken team will have a discovery, alpha and beta running simultaneously which the ID will be involved in

Top 3 Skills

  • Comfortable with working on data heavy products
  • Happy with producing low level wireframes.
  • Highly collaborative with BAs and URs
