Know Your Data Inside Out

Before the interview, make sure you brush up on your SQL and Python skills. Be ready to discuss how you've used these tools in past projects, especially when it comes to building data pipelines or working with large datasets. Having specific examples at hand will show that you’re not just familiar with the concepts but have practical experience.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Skills

Prepare to talk about challenges you've faced in previous roles, particularly around ETL workflows or data integration. Think of a couple of scenarios where you identified a problem, implemented a solution, and what the outcome was. This will demonstrate your analytical thinking and ability to deliver insights that drive business decisions.

Communicate Like a Pro

Since this role involves liaising with non-technical stakeholders, practice explaining complex data concepts in simple terms. You might be asked to present a past project or explain a technical process, so being able to communicate clearly and effectively is key. Consider doing a mock presentation to a friend who isn’t in the field to get feedback.

Familiarise Yourself with the Company’s Data Landscape

Research the company’s data practices and any tools they use, like Power BI or Azure services. If you can, try to find out what kind of data challenges they might be facing. This will not only help you tailor your answers but also show your genuine interest in the role and the company’s operations.
