Animator – HIRING ASAP

Start date: ASAP
Duration: 18 Months
Location: 2 days in Twycross & 3 days working from home
Rate: £300 – £332 per day PAYE

Summary:

Technical animators are responsible for supporting the technology used to play animations in games. As part of the Technical Animation team, you will work directly with the Engineering team, and you will support the Art, AI, and Game teams to build animation systems for runtime. You will be using Unreal to create higher standards of animation across a wide variety of our clients’ unique and stylised characters. They are also invested in ongoing R&D into new and emerging animation technology. This role is a real opportunity for a problem solver with a creative technical mindset.

Skills:

  1. Several years of experience working as technical animation in the videogame industry (doesn’t have to be Triple AAA)
  2. Unreal Engine experience
  3. Experience in Animation blueprints (Locomotion)
  4. Demonstrable experience in the development of locomotion and character control systems
  5. Proven ability to work on engine animation blueprints including overlaying, IK, control rigs or similar technologies.
  6. To have completed at least one full game development cycle
  7. Demonstrated good collaboration skills.
  8. Demonstrable ability in the use of revision control software

Responsibilities:

  1. Work with design and engineers to understand and implement gameplay animation features.
  2. Support engineers and game teams to fix game issues, troubleshooting animation graphs and artwork.
  3. Be aware of the performance issues and be responsible for performance improvements.
  4. Participate in R&D into emerging animation technologies.
  5. Advise and create tools to improve workflows and asset quality.

Desirable Skills:

  1. Knowledge of 3D maths and creative problem-solving skills
  2. Programming or scripting skills
  3. Experience with motion matching and other data-driven systems
