Summary
Trust in SODA has partnered with a client who is an innovative and dynamic studio dedicated to creating immersive and visually stunning worlds. They are seeking a talented 3D Environment Artist to join their creative VR/AR team and help bring their digital landscapes to life. If you are passionate about creating visually appealing environments and have a strong understanding of both artistic and technical aspects of game content, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create believable, engaging, and visually appealing environments and environment assets that resonate with our audience.
  • Deliver production-ready content on time and to specification, including full environments, kit pieces, props, and their variants.
  • Collaborate effectively with all members of the art and technical art teams, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide support and work closely with external vendors, offering constructive feedback on the technical and artistic aspects of their models and textures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to accept and provide constructive feedback.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates your expertise in environment creation and design, showcasing both artistic skills (the art) and technical delivery (the craft) of assets for runtime systems.
  • Practical experience with setting up environment scenes and understanding the sub-object quality process, including delivering these assets to game engines while identifying and resolving any content-related bugs.
  • Highly proficient in industry-standard software packages such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance, and commercial game engines.
  • Exceptional artistic judgment and a solid understanding of form, mood, lighting, and composition, with the ability to adapt to and follow established art direction.
  • Solid understanding of low-poly asset creation methods for real-time platforms, such as mobile and VR.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with scene lighting and optimization to ensure smooth performance and visual fidelity.
  • Previous experience working with external contributors or outsourcers, managing asset feedback, and ensuring quality.
  • Ability to add simple environmental animation and FX to scenes, enhancing the atmosphere and interactivity of the environments.

Contract Length: 12 Month Contract
Location / Hybrid Working: Leamington Spa, 3 days a week onsite
Pay Rate: Up to £260 per day
