Our client is seeking an Electrician to join our team and carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across industrial, commercial, and domestic environments. The ideal candidate will be experienced in EICR testing, corrective remedial work, boiler wiring, consumer unit and distribution board upgrades, and small-scale electrical installations. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planned & Reactive Maintenance
    • Carry out routine, scheduled maintenance to ensure electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and efficient.
    • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests, diagnose faults, and complete repairs to minimise downtime.
    • Provide clear and accurate documentation for all completed works.
  • EICR Testing & Remedial Work
    • Perform Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) across domestic, commercial, and industrial sites.
    • Identify issues, code them appropriately, and complete necessary corrective actions.
    • Ensure all testing meets current BS 7671 wiring regulations and industry standards.
  • Boiler Wiring & Controls
    • Install, fault-find, and repair heating system wiring, including S- and Y-Plan configurations.
    • Work alongside heating engineers when required to ensure safe and integrated system operation.
    • Diagnose issues with motorised valves, thermostats, programmers, and other control devices.
  • Distribution & Consumer Unit Upgrades
    • Replace, upgrade, and install consumer units and distribution boards.
    • Ensure full testing, certification, and safe energisation of new installations.
    • Provide recommendations to clients on system improvements and safety enhancements.
  • Small Electrical Installations
    • Carry out small-scale electrical installation work such as final circuit additions, lighting upgrades, new socket outlets, and equipment connections.
    • Install wiring systems in accordance with IET regulations and in line with project specifications.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Complete electrical certificates, minor works, installation certificates, and test sheets accurately.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671 and other relevant statutory requirements.
    • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company policies and risk assessments.
  • Customer Service & Teamwork
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, tenants, contractors, and colleagues.
    • Provide advice and technical support where needed.
    • Work both independently and as part of a wider maintenance team.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
  • 18th Edition (or current edition) IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Proven experience in maintenance, testing, and small installations across multiple sectors.
  • Strong diagnostic ability and methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • 2391 or equivalent qualification in Inspection & Testing.
  • Experience with boiler/heating control wiring.
  • Experience in industrial control systems or commercial maintenance environments.
  • Knowledge of emergency lighting regulations and installation.
