About Trust Impact

Trust Impact is one of the UK’s leading specialist consultancies in social impact strategy, research and live data storytelling — trusted by the leaders of some of the country’s most influential organisations. We are known for pragmatic, data-driven solutions that help clients understand, measure and maximise their social impact in real-time.

Our work is structured around three integrated service lines: Understand (Impact Strategy Development), Measure (Research and Data Collection), and Maximise (Data Visualisation and Reporting). As we enter our next phase, we are creating exciting new products including predictive impact modelling, large dataset analysis, and AI.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a respected, innovative boutique consultancy at a pivotal moment in its development. You will have significant autonomy, work with a committed and highly skilled team, and contribute directly to meaningful, measurable social change.

Role Purpose

The new Managing Director will lead Trust Impact through its next stage of development, shaping our strategy and overseeing day-to-day delivery. You will work closely with the Founder (who will be transitioning to a Chair role, but will continue to support the business with key projects and high profile clients) and the senior team to strengthen operational performance, deepen key client relationships, and build scalable, high-quality data-led services and products in the impact sector. You will also play an active role in delivering impact consultancy projects and leading quality and consistency of delivery.

Values and Ways of Working

  • Commitment to social change: we are motivated by meaningful, measurable outcomes that help our clients achieve greater social impact.
  • Keep it simple: we value clarity and actionable insight, cutting through complicated impact measurement.
  • Boutique and expert-led: we prioritise quality, specialist expertise and reputation over scale.
  • Fast-moving and entrepreneurial: we are lean in our approach, we iterate quickly, and we keep learning.
  • Pragmatic: we focus on solutions that work in the real world and deliver impact, steering away from over-complication.
  • Open-minded: we welcome diverse perspectives and explore different approaches, often finding innovative solutions to entrenched problems.
  • Humble but confident: we approach our work with openness and self-awareness, we bring strong expertise and a clear belief in our ability to deliver great results.
  • Respecting difference: we actively champion equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that people of all backgrounds feel valued, supported and able to contribute meaningfully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership: lead the business, developing strategy and developing new opportunities.
  • Business development and growth: identify and secure new opportunities; shape scalable offerings and bring a commercial mindset to the business.
  • Client leadership: own and grow key client relationships; ensure excellent delivery, retention and account development.
  • Operational leadership: oversee day-to-day operations; partner with the Operations Director to maintain efficiency and an agile culture.
  • Team leadership: lead and develop the Lead Impact Consultants team, specifically delivering the ‘impact strategy’ element of our work.
  • People and culture: build a supportive, high-performing team environment; provide clear leadership and pastoral support for a remotely based team.
  • Innovation and technology: champion innovation, AI-assisted and data-driven approaches; develop and prioritise the technical roadmap with an informed view of complexity, effort and risk.
  • External representation: act as a public face for Trust Impact with clients and stakeholders, complementing the Chair’s thought‑leadership activity.
  • Continuous improvement: streamline internal processes and meetings to reduce burden and increase focus.
  • Budget setting and financial management: work with the Operations Director and our outsourced finance team to manage costs on a daily basis.

What Success Looks Like (First 12–18 Months)

  • A clear, communicated strategy and business plan with prioritised offerings and an achievable roadmap.
  • Stronger, more predictable pipeline and revenue performance, with growth in key accounts and improved client retention.
  • Operational cadence that protects focus (lean meetings, clear decision-making, effective delivery).
  • Improved consistency and quality in delivery, with satisfied clients and strong references.
  • Build Trust Impact’s team capacity to respond to changing demand.
  • Create a supported, high-performing team culture where people can do their best work.

Person Specification

  • Strong commercial capability, including business development and/or account leadership.
  • Senior leadership experience with a track record of delivering growth and/or operational improvement.
  • A clear, strategic view of the impact sector (or adjacent sectors) and the energy to translate vision into execution.
  • Technically literate but not a tech expert: able to understand the concepts of data, analytics and AI quickly, and to make informed decisions with the senior team about effort, trade-offs and risk.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including confident public speaking and networking.
  • Strong alignment with Trust Impact’s values, especially clarity (“getting to simple”), pragmatism and humility.
  • Comfortable working in an agile, entrepreneurial environment; preference for lean experimentation (MVP) over bureaucracy.
  • Able to deal with uncertainty and a creative process.
  • Inclusive leadership style and ability to support a diverse team.
  • Experience in consulting/professional services, social impact, innovation, data products, or analytics-led organisations.
  • Experience building and managing outsourced teams (strategy, research, data engineering, analytics, AI).
