This is a rare opportunity to build a mental health residential service from the ground up and put your own stamp on every part of its future. You won’t be walking into a settled service with inherited problems and limited influence. Instead, you’ll play a leading role in reopening and shaping a brand-new 15-bed residential care project, giving you the autonomy to create the culture, standards, and environment you believe great care should look like.

Starting in August, you’ll work closely with senior leadership through the registration process ahead of the planned opening at the end of 2026. From recruitment and occupancy planning to policies, compliance, and team development, you’ll be trusted to lead the service with real ownership from day one.

Why this role is different

Very few opportunities allow you to genuinely build a service from scratch. This role gives you the chance to create something long-term, stable, and quality-led within a growing provider that’s investing heavily into the future of mental health care. You’ll have direct input into decisions, freedom to shape the service your way, and the support to develop a home that delivers meaningful outcomes for the people living there.

If you’ve ever wanted the opportunity to step away from “maintaining” a service and instead build one properly from the beginning, this is exactly that.

The role

You’ll oversee the reopening and development of a 15-bed residential service supporting adults with mental health needs. Working through registration and mobilisation, you’ll lead on creating a safe, compliant, and person-centred environment that reflects high standards of care and strong leadership. This is a visible leadership role where your ability to lead by example, build relationships, and create a positive culture will directly shape the success of the service.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the registration and mobilisation of the service ahead of opening
  • Build and develop a strong, values-led team culture
  • Create systems, policies, and processes that support high-quality care delivery
  • Develop relationships with local authorities and external stakeholders
  • Ensure the service is fully compliant and inspection-ready from the outset
  • Drive occupancy growth and support the long-term success of the home

What you’ll need

  • Previous experience as a Registered Manager within a mental health or adult social care setting
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations and residential care standards
  • Confidence leading teams, managing compliance, and driving service improvement
  • A proactive and resilient leadership style with the ability to build a service from the ground up
  • Passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care
