We are working with a primary school that requires a SEN TA to work 1:1 with a SEN pupil in Year 5 to start as soon as possible. The role will continue until the end of the academic year, July 2025. This role requires a person who excels in creating an entertaining and comfortable environment for pupils with SEN and is able to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil whilst being in a mainstream classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering and supporting the educational health care plans (EHCP) tailored to the specific needs of the pupil.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Have a good working knowledge of delivering the Primary National Curriculum.
- Be able to support quality learning experiences for pupils and deliver specific interventions.
- Follow school policies and procedures with regards to safeguarding and behaviour.
- Can quickly build positive relationships with both staff and students.
- Show initiative and ask for direction if needed.
- Provide 1:1 support, ensuring the child’s needs are met in line with their EHCP.
Primary SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications or teaching assistant experience in the classroom (e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma in childcare).
- UK experience as a teaching assistant.
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the update service or be willing to complete a new DBS.
- Good knowledge of planning and delivering personalised SEN lesson plans to maximise the pupil's learning experience.
