We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism, ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs to thrive academically, socially and emotionally within a nurturing school environment.

Working Hours:

  • Monday & Tuesday: 8:30am – 12:30pm
  • Wednesday – Friday: 8:30am – 2:30pm

The Role:

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide personalised, consistent and structured support for a child on a one-to-one basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil feel safe, understood and able to engage with learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Support emotional regulation and wellbeing using a calm, flexible approach
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Use strategies appropriate for Autism, ADHD and PDA profiles
  • Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO and parents/carers
  • Support the pupil’s social communication and independence skills
  • Contribute to behaviour and support plans

  • Have experience working with children with SEND, particularly Autism and ADHD
  • Have knowledge or experience of PDA-informed approaches
