The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 Β£ per year.

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Student Mentor to join our Sport, Health and Education Faculty at Truro & Penwith College. This is a rewarding role where you will provide pastoral support, guidance and mentoring to students, helping them overcome barriers and succeed in their studies and personal development. You will work closely with curriculum staff, student services, safeguarding teams and external agencies to ensure learners receive the support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a drop-in triage service, offering advice, guidance and support on a range of issues including wellbeing, relationships, finance and safeguarding
  • Assess student needs and signpost to appropriate internal and external support services
  • Act as a key point of contact between students, staff and parents/carers
  • Support faculty staff with behaviour management and student engagement
  • Work collaboratively with Student Services, Learning Services and Safeguarding teams
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor student concerns

You will be passionate about supporting young people and helping them succeed, with the confidence to build positive and professional relationships.

Key Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, or a strong willingness to develop in this area
  • Knowledge or experience of youth work and safeguarding
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative ability
  • Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems
  • A commitment to promoting student wellbeing, inclusion, and success

Additional Qualifications

  • Hold (or be willing to achieve) First Aid and Mental Health First Aid qualifications
