POSITION PURPOSE

To assist the Golf Courses Manager in the daily management, presentation and maintenance of the golf courses, ensuring that the courses are at all times presented in the best possible condition, in line with all department standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead, motivate and develop associates, ensuring work is completed to agreed standards through effective supervision, coaching and performance feedback.
  • Manage and oversee the safe storage, handling and application of all chemicals in accordance with legislation, company policy and best practice, ensuring all records are accurately maintained.
  • Supervise the use of grass cutting machinery to ensure it is used safely and effectively; care and maintenance of machinery and the reporting of loss or damage to the Workshop Manager according to agreed policy and procedure.
  • Supervise projects to ensure works are carried out to set standards
  • Supervise and participate in department and resort projects to ensure works are carried out to set standards
  • Lead, train and develop full-time and seasonal/casual associates. Support their development, appraisal and performance management through regular coaching.
  • Assist in planning and managing the maintenance, presentation and performance of all playing surfaces to deliver exceptional course conditions.
  • Construction, aeration and turfing works / duties.
  • Maintain high standards of customer care at all times.
  • Understand Trump Turnberry policies on Health and Safety and to ensure that all duties performed are carried out with full regard to the safety of customers, visitors, contractors and other employees; work within the Health & Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment and HAVS Assessment guidelines at all times.
  • To accept training and instruction to further skill set.
  • Assist in the production of department SOP’s and training materials etc.
  • In conjunction with the GCM organize the day to day work programs and work scheduling. Assume these duties in the absence of the GCM alongside the other DGCM.
  • Liaise effectively with the Golf Operations team to ensure course set-up meets tournament, member and guest requirements.
  • Assist with monitoring irrigation systems, identify faults and coordinate repairs to maintain optimal turf health
  • Manage stock levels of fertilisers, chemicals, seed, sand and other consumables, ensuring timely ordering and accurate records.
  • To attend any training courses deemed suitable
  • Have a good strong understanding of agronomy and the fundamentals of turfgrass management
  • Keep up to date with advances of new products, equipment and technology by various means such as attendance at various exhibitions, seminars, meetings, literature and internet
  • Follow Resort policies and procedures as detailed in the Associate Handbook
  • Any other duties that may be required on the golf courses or the resort, to contribute to the workflow of the department
