This ambitious and established, award winning financial planning business is looking for a Head of Recruitment to take responsibility for one of the most important parts of its future: finding, engaging and bringing the right financial advisers and IFA businesses into the organisation.
This company takes pride in their culture and love that their staff are proud to work there and find fulfilment and value in their work.
This is a key strategic appointment where you will make a great impact.
About the Role
With a basic of circa £110,000, the opportunity of equity, plus bonus and a comprehensive benefits package this is a key strategic appointment where you will make a great impact and contribution.
The Head of Recruitment role sits at the intersection of relationship building, financial adviser recruitment, business development and IFA acquisitions.
You will be engaging with experienced financial advisers considering their next move, IFA business owners thinking about succession, and professional contacts who can open doors to opportunities that may not yet be on the market. The successful person will have the commercial understanding to recognise a great opportunity, the relationship skills to develop.
Responsibilities
- You will take ownership of the financial adviser growth pipeline, from that first conversation through to recruitment, IFA acquisition and successful integration.
- That means identifying a self-employed financial adviser who is looking for a supportive home for their business.
- It means developing a relationship with an IFA business owner who is beginning to think about retirement or succession.
- It involves an IFA acquisition opportunity that requires careful commercial consideration, due diligence and collaboration with senior leadership.
- You will build relationships across the financial planning and wealth management market, becoming someone, financial advisers and IFA business owners know they can trust.
- Strategy is very important in this position.
- You will need to be someone who brings ideas, wealth advice market insight and constructive challenges - someone who can see where the financial adviser proposition could evolve and help shape how the business continues to attract and retain exceptional people.
Your role will include
- Developing and delivering financial adviser attraction and IFA acquisition strategies
- Identifying new financial adviser, business and acquisition opportunities
- Building and nurturing a strong pipeline of prospective financial advisers and IFA firms
- Developing trusted relationships with financial advisers, IFA business owners, professional introducers and partners
- Leading financial adviser recruitment from initial conversation through to appointment and onboarding
- Working closely with Finance, Compliance, Operations, HR and senior leadership throughout the process
- Understanding the commercial and financial characteristics of potential opportunities, including recurring income, assets under management, profitability and valuation
- Representing the business at financial services industry events and within your professional network
- Developing referral relationships that create future opportunities
- Helping new financial advisers and acquired IFA businesses make a successful transition into the organisation
- Providing clear pipeline and management information to support strategic decision-making
The person behind the experience
We are looking for someone who understands the financial planning world and genuinely enjoys talking with financial advisers. What matters is that you understand how financial planning businesses work and can hold credible conversations with experienced financial advisers and IFA business owners.
You will need to have demonstrable commercial instinct, strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to manage conversations where there may be significant personal and financial decisions involved.
Where could this opportunity take you?
This is a national, UK-wide role, with flexibility around where you are based. There will be regular travel to offices, meetings with financial advisers and IFA business owners, and wealth management industry events, so being within reasonable travelling distance of an office location is important.
You will have considerable autonomy and the opportunity to make a visible contribution to the future growth of the organisation.
If you know the financial adviser market, enjoy opening conversations and have the ability to turn a good conversation into a long‑term relationship, this could be an opportunity worth exploring. If you are ready to talk about what comes next, we will love to hear from you.
Qualifications
- Diploma qualified Level 4 CII qualification, or equivalent, ideally with a desire to progress towards Level 6
Required Skills
- A strong understanding of the UK financial planning and wealth management market
- Experience in adviser recruitment, IFA acquisitions, business development and growth‑focused financial services environment
- An understanding of financial adviser succession, IFA retirement and business ownership

- Excellent influencing, negotiation and communication skills
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage several opportunities at different stages
- Discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information
- The emotional intelligence to build credibility quickly and develop relationships over time
- The independence and drive to take ownership, while knowing when collaboration is the right approach
