We’re working with a fast-growing technology organisation looking for an experienced Senior Application Security Engineer to help shape how security is embedded across their engineering function. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll work closely with software engineering, platform, and product teams to improve security practices, reduce risk, and ensure applications are designed and delivered securely from day one. You’ll be joining an environment where security is treated as an enabler rather than a blocker — helping teams build better, safer products through automation, collaboration, and modern security engineering approaches.
What you’ll be doing:
- Drive improvements across application security processes, tooling, and engineering practices
- Work alongside development teams to integrate security throughout the software delivery lifecycle
- Support secure architecture decisions and provide practical guidance during design and development
- Build and improve automated security checks across CI/CD environments
- Identify application risks and help engineering teams understand and resolve vulnerabilities
- Lead threat modelling activities and support secure design reviews
- Manage and improve the effectiveness of security testing approaches and tooling
- Work with technologies covering areas such as code analysis, dependency scanning, and application testing
- Support vulnerability management activities including prioritisation and remediation planning
- Help define standards, processes, and documentation to support security maturity
- Promote a collaborative security culture across engineering teams
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in application security, secure software engineering, or a similar security‑focused role
- Strong understanding of software development practices and how to embed security effectively
- Knowledge of common application and API security risks, including OWASP principles
- Experience implementing security automation within modern delivery pipelines
- Hands‑on experience with security testing tools and vulnerability management processes
- Background working with cloud‑based platforms, ideally AWS environments
- Exposure to containerised applications, distributed systems, or microservice architectures
- Ability to review technical designs and influence engineering decisions
- Strong stakeholder skills with the ability to coach and collaborate with technical teams
