Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week in Newcastle upon Tyne. TrueNorth are supporting a large UK retail organisation delivering a major technology and operational transformation across its retail estate. We are looking for an experienced Retail Project Manager to lead detailed, hands‑on delivery across retail technology, business change and legacy‑system decommissioning.
The role involves turning scope into a detailed and deliverable plan, then driving that plan through functional delivery, development, testing, data, cutover and business readiness. This role requires someone who works close to the detail, understands the critical path and identifies delivery problems before they appear in programme reporting.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and manage detailed task‑level project plans
- Establish clear owners, durations, dependencies and milestones
- Drive day‑to‑day delivery across multiple workstreams
- Coordinate SIT, UAT, defect resolution and readiness gates
- Identify and manage cross‑project dependencies
- Support cutover planning and legacy‑system decommissioning
- Maintain meaningful risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies
- Produce clear, evidence‑based delivery reporting
- Work closely with retail operations, commercial and technical stakeholders
- Hold systems integrators and partners to their delivery commitments
- Remove blockers and elevate emerging problems early
What we’re looking for:
- Experience delivering complex technology projects within a large organisation
- Strong planning skills, including critical-path and dependency management
- Experience coordinating test cycles and delivery gates
- Practical, disciplined RAID management
- Confidence working across technical, business and operational teams
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A proactive approach to delivery, escalation and problem‑solving
SAP S/4HANA, retail operations, POS, shop systems, stock, waste or legacy ERP decommissioning experience would be particularly valuable.
