We're looking for a highly technical UNIX Engineer to join a core Infrastructure Engineering team supporting a large-scale enterprise environment within the financial services sector.#
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance automation for large-scale Linux patching, OS upgrades, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Build orchestration components using Python, Ansible, and Apache Airflow.
- Create robust pre-checks, post-change validations, and automation workflows to improve reliability and deployment speed.
- Integrate monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and related tooling.
- Support automation across Linux platforms, with exposure to load balancers and virtualisation technologies.
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve infrastructure resilience and operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in Python and Ansible.
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools (Apache Airflow desirable).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, protocols, filesystems, and low-level UNIX concepts.
- Comfortable working at the command line and troubleshooting complex infrastructure.
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Loki is advantageous.
- Financial services experience is beneficial but not essential.
Additional Information:
- Glasgow is the preferred location, with some travel to the London client site during onboarding (travel covered where applicable). Newcastle-based candidates will primarily attend the Newcastle office when required.
