At Trueline, we value our employees and provide a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. Due to growth and our success, we are now looking to recruit a Laser Sales Estimator to join our team.

The Role

To provide accurate, timely laser cutting quotations and technical support to the Laser Sales Advisor and customers, ensuring that Trueline delivers high-quality, competitive pricing while meeting profitability targets. This role combines estimating, technical understanding of laser cutting, and customer communication. The ideal candidate will have AutoCAD/SolidWorks/SigmaNEST (or similar) experience and laser cutting knowledge or transferrable skills from another industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Estimation
    • Analyse drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to prepare accurate quotations.
    • Use internal software (and laser-related tooling) to calculate cutting times, material needs, and production costs.
    • Evaluate factors that may influence costs or production time and flag potential risks.
    • Ensure all quotes are issued promptly and followed up within required deadlines.
  • Technical Support
    • Liaise with the Laser Sales Advisor to clarify requirements for complex jobs.
    • Interpret customer drawings using AutoCAD/SolidWorks/SigmaNEST (or similar).
    • Support programming and nesting processes where required (depending on skillset).
  • Supplier & Material Liaison
    • Work closely with procurement to obtain and maintain competitive, up-to-date material pricing.
    • Build strong relationships with suppliers to support the accuracy of estimates.
  • Customer Engagement
    • Communicate with customers to clarify technical details and requirements.
    • Ensure all quotes are followed up within 7 days.
    • Maintain organised and accurate records of all estimates and customer interactions.
  • Risk & Commercial Assessment
    • Assess operational and production risks for each job.
    • Work with the Laser Sales Advisor to ensure profit margins meet agreed thresholds.
    • Highlight any technical or cost concerns early.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in estimating (engineering, manufacturing, fabrication or laser would be a strong advantage).
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office essential; CAD or nesting software desirable).
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with both internal teams and customers.
