This is why we’re expanding the team across our offices in London, Milan, and Dublin.

We’re looking for a Business Intelligence & Automation Lead to join our Strategic Finance team. This is a pivotal role for someone who doesn't wait for a brief to arrive before spotting the opportunity. You thrive in ambiguity, turn sprawling datasets into a single source of truth, and use modern automation and AI tools to do it faster and better than anyone expected.

You will work closely with teams across the business, from Engineering to Commercial, acting as the connective tissue between raw data and real insight. You will independently design systems, challenge assumptions, and build the financial intelligence infrastructure that helps TrueLayer make smarter decisions at pace.

What we expect from our Business Intelligence & Automation Lead

  • Financial Intelligence & BI Architecture
    • Partner with Core Data and Engineering to define and extend finance data models within our existing data stack; building production-grade tables that integrate cleanly with our data warehouse.
    • Own and evolve the Strategic Finance visualisation layer in Looker; replacing fragile spreadsheets with scalable, self‑serve dashboards that stakeholders actually use.
    • Conduct deep exploratory analysis to define core performance metrics, unit economics, margin leakage, and operational cohorts.
  • Workflow Automation & AI Orchestration
    • Automate structured month‑end deliverables end-to-end; eliminating manual MoM and YoY FP&A cycles.
    • Develop real‑time programmatic tracking for OpEx management and headcount spend against corporate budgets.
    • Automate cash management pipelines, tying them directly into forward‑looking strategic forecasting.
    • Deploy modern AI tools (like Dust AI) to orchestrate automated financial commentaries, executive briefing summaries, and high‑frequency data synthesis.
  • Strategic Data & Investment Reporting
    • Build investor reporting frameworks that give leadership clear, timely, and accurate visibility to company performance.
    • Lead data ingestion, cleaning, and normalisation during corporate development or acquisition phases; unifying disparate data lineages into one cohesive reporting model.
    • Act as a high‑fidelity translator across Finance, Product, Engineering, and Commercial; mapping data to strategic pillars that the whole business can work from.
    • Handle sensitive financial data with absolute confidentiality and integrity.

Who you are

  • Mindset & Approach
    • Self‑directed and high‑ownership; you know what good looks like and you deliver it without needing to be told twice.
    • A systems thinker who builds for scale, not just for today.
    • Naturally inquisitive; you go beyond surface‑level trends demonstrating the desire and ability to understand the underlying drivers.
    • Confident working cross‑functionally, bringing stakeholders along with you rather than around you.
    • Comfortable in ambiguity; you take messy, disparate data and bring order to it.
  • Technical Skills
    • Solid experience in a BI, data, or finance analytics role (bonus points for a VC, investment, or acquisitions environment).
    • Advanced SQL; writing production‑ready queries that clean, transform, and map complex datasets.
    • Strong understanding of modern data stack architecture, including data warehousing and dbt workflows.
    • Demonstrated experience building reporting in Looker (LookML, views, explores).
    • Hands‑on with generative AI platforms and automation tools; you use them to build, not just to explore.

We would be really excited if you have

  • Python for data processing, modelling, or automated pipelines.
  • Familiarity with software engineering practices: Git, cloud environments (AWS), infrastructure tooling.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions or working across different asset types.
  • Previous people management or mentoring (not a hard requirement, but a signal of seniority).
  • Financial literacy: Revenue, opex, and capital allocation.

Benefits

  • Meaningful equity in the company.
  • Flexible hours and hybrid working. Split your time 50/50 between working from home and our welcoming offices in London and Milan, spending 2-3 days per week in the office.
  • 24 days holiday as standard with flexible bank holidays, so you can take those days whenever you like.
  • 12 fully‑paid wellbeing days a year and your birthday off (on top of the holiday allowance).
  • 2 volunteering days to support causes important to you.
  • 90 day ‘work from abroad’ policy.
  • Generous parental leave, above and beyond statutory requirements.
  • Competitive pension contribution at 4%.
  • Private health insurance from the day you start.
  • Membership of mental wellbeing platform Spill.
  • A £1000 budget to spend on learning & development each year.
  • Free lunch from Just Eat 3 days a week when you are in the office.
