Senior Finance Systems Accountant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Senior Finance Systems Accountant in Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle upon Tyne Full-Time On-site
True Potential LLP

Are you a finance systems specialist with strong Workday Financials experience who enjoys improving how systems, data and processes work together?

We’re looking for a Finance Systems Accountant to take day-to-day ownership of Workday Financials and play a key role in its ongoing development, optimisation and governance.

Sitting at the intersection of Finance, Technology and Data, you’ll be the functional expert for Workday Financials, helping to ensure the platform is stable, well controlled and delivering value for the business. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider Finance Transformation roadmap and explore how automation, AI and emerging technology can enhance our finance systems.

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as the functional owner and subject matter expert for Workday Financials, including Prism Analytics and Accounting Center
  • Managing system configuration and coordinating testing, user acceptance and deployment of Workday releases and changes
  • Overseeing incidents, support requests and enhancements, ensuring priorities are managed effectively
  • Working with Workday and third-party support providers to progress issues and change requests
  • Identifying recurring issues and leading root-cause analysis and preventative improvements
  • Supporting access management, security reviews and Finance and IT governance requirements
  • Developing Workday reports and dashboards and monitoring data quality
  • Working with Development and MI teams on Workday data requirements within Microsoft Fabric
  • Creating system documentation, process maps, user guidance and training materials
  • Identifying opportunities for automation, AI and emerging technologies within the Workday Finance product suite
  • Supporting the implementation of future finance systems
  • Providing support, development and knowledge sharing for the Workday Financials Analyst

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience of Workday Financials, including configuration, reporting and optimisation
  • Good understanding of key finance processes across P2P, R2R and O2C
  • Experience managing system incidents, enhancements and changes within a controlled environment
  • The ability to turn finance requirements into practical, proportionate system solutions
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • The ability to balance competing operational and project priorities
  • Experience producing system documentation, controls and user guidance
  • Experience with Workday Prism Analytics and/or Accounting Center
  • Workday security or access management experience
  • Exposure to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric
  • Previous line management, coaching or mentoring experience
  • A part or fully qualified accountancy qualification
  • A project management or business analyst qualification

Why this role?

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to combine finance knowledge with systems expertise rather than work in a traditional accounting role.

You’ll have real ownership of Workday Financials, influence how the platform develops and work across Finance, Technology and Data to improve systems, processes and information across the organisation.
