A dynamic and growing food manufacturer is seeking an experienced Technical Compliance Manager to take ownership of the site’s Quality Management System and drive food safety and compliance standards across the business. As the company continues its exciting growth journey toward and beyond BRCGS accreditation, this role will be pivotal in ensuring audit readiness, robust systems, and a strong food safety culture.
Working closely with the Technical Manager, this is an ideal opportunity for a detail-driven technical professional who thrives on systems, governance, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About You
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline
- Relevant experience in a Quality Systems, Compliance, or Technical role within UK food manufacturing
- Strong working knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety standards, HACCP, and UK/EU food legislation
- Experience leading internal audits and supporting third-party audits and inspections
- A highly organised, detail-focused individual who can balance governance with practical site needs
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with Production, NPD, and Hygiene teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, QMS platforms, and retailer portals
What You’ll Be Doing
- Taking full ownership of the site’s Food Safety & Quality Management System (FS/QMS) in line with BRCGS Issue 9 standards
- Managing document control, ensuring policies, procedures, SOPs, and work instructions are current, controlled, and audit-ready
- Leading internal audits, managing non-conformances, and driving effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Leading the annual HACCP review and supporting food safety risk assessments across the site
- Ensuring compliance with UK food safety legislation, FSA guidance, and legal requirements including allergens, labelling, and traceability
- Managing the supplier assurance programme, ensuring robust specifications and appropriate accreditation are in place
- Keeping up to date with legislative and regulatory changes and ensuring ongoing audit readiness
- Developing and delivering training related to QMS, compliance, and food safety systems
- Supporting site-wide food safety and quality initiatives, embedding a culture of continuous improvement
Desirable
- Lead Auditor qualification (BRCGS or ISO 22000)
- Level 3 or 4 Food Safety and HACCP
- Experience within chilled or high-care food manufacturing environments
