About Us
True North Productions is one of the UK’s leading factual television producers, making high-quality content for UK and global audiences. As part of the Sky Group, we combine the creativity of a tight-knit production house with the resources of a major broadcaster. Our company values - collaborative, supportive, and trusted – are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in providing a working environment where everyone feels invested in the process and creativity flourishes.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this 5-month fixed-term contract will see you act as a key partner in translating numbers into a compelling narrative for stakeholders. You will hit the ground running to create, audit, and explain the "why" behind our financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly Management Accounts: Produce accurate, timely monthly management reports and full variance analysis. Balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance of supporting schedules.
- Data Analysis & Commentary: Explain the narrative behind the numbers, providing clear insights into variances against budget/forecasts.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with non-finance teams to help them understand their costs and KPIs.
- Reporting to Head Office: Ensure seamless financial reporting to Sky parent company standards.
- Forecasting & Budgeting: Support the Head of Finance with regular re-forecasting during the contract period.
- Audit and Controls: Support internal and external audit and statutory reporting requirements. Continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
- Payroll: Payroll processing and pension administration.
About You
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Management Accountant (or similar), preferably within a fast-paced environment. TV experience is not essential - we value skill and mindset over specific media industry titles.
- Qualification: Part qualified or qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience.
- Availability to commit to a 5-month contract before beginning of July.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency is essential (construction of complex financial models/manipulating large datasets). Experience with dashboards and Power BI is advantageous but not essential.
- Mindset: A proactive, trustworthy collaborator with excellent communication skills who can adapt quickly.
Why Join True North Productions?
- Location: Work in our beautiful, modern mill building in the heart of Leeds, just a 5-minute walk from Leeds train station and city centre amenities.
