About the Venue:

Be part of Sheffield’s newest late-night venue. You'll find Abbeydale Ballroom in the basement of the iconic Abbeydale Picture House - with cocktails, live sport, great food, and the city’s slickest pool lounge.

Overview of the Role:

Our line chefs are the glue that holds our kitchens together and are key in supporting the Sous Chef & Head Chef. You are enthusiastic, upbeat, and friendly. Like us, you’ll be passionate about good quality food and not be afraid to get stuck in. You’ll be supported in your career by an experienced team, in an exciting, fast-paced and dynamic kitchen, with the opportunity to gain experience working across all sections.

Day-to-day, the role provides variety, with duties that include:

  • Food preparation
  • Assisting other chefs in the team
  • Helping with deliveries & restocking
  • Stock rotation
  • Cleaning duties
  • Maintaining kitchen and food safety standards

You’ll embrace our fresh food culture, be involved with stock control, and ensure we meet food safety and cleaning standards. Ideally with 1 year’s experience in a similar role, as a line cook, commis chef, pizza chef, or all-round experience as a Chef De Partie. Most importantly, you’ll be hands-on with a “can do” attitude, and able to work flexibly, including evenings and most weekends.

Reporting to: Head Chef

Hours: Part-time: 15 to 24 hours per week, scheduled to suit the needs of the business. This is a late-night role, with working up until midnight at weekends required.

Personal Requirements:

  • Experience of developing great professional relationships with colleagues
  • High levels of self-organisation
  • Great communicator
  • Ideally 1 year of kitchen experience in a similar role
  • Experience of preparing & cooking fresh food in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities:

  • Customer focused: helps to deliver the True North mission of creating a Truly Northern experience for every guest
  • Professional appearance, conduct, and behaviour
  • Setting up and closing the kitchen to venue standards
  • Pot washing
  • Cleaning tasks to assist in the smooth running of the kitchen
  • Food preparation
  • Receiving and putting away deliveries to Company standards
  • Cooking fresh food to specification, every time
  • Maintaining food hygiene and safety
  • Dish creation and development
  • To develop & learn from our Sous & Head Chefs, ensuring continuous professional development
  • Assess par levels and place orders

Location: Sheffield S7 1FS: you will need to reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
