We are seeking a
Senior Financial Accountant based in London, UK or Westport, CT to join a US-based private equity firm focused on investing in renewable energy and energy transition opportunities.
Reporting to the US-based Chief Accounting Officer, the Senior Accountant will support accounting and financial reporting across a portfolio of UK, European, and US entities, including SPVs and project companies.
This is a hands‑on role with a strong focus on US GAAP accounting and financial reporting, including significant responsibility for quarterly and year-end reporting, multi‑entity accounting, and financial statement preparation.
The role will also support reporting requirements under UK GAAP and IFRS across the global portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounting and financial reporting for multiple SPVs, project companies, and other legal entities.
- Lead quarterly and year-end accounting and reporting activities.
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules under US GAAP, UK GAAP, and IFRS, as applicable.
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, allocations, and other accounting activities.
- Support fund-level reporting, investor reporting, audits, and lender/tax equity reporting.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisers, lenders, and other third‑party service providers.
- Review portfolio company financial information and support accounting requirements related to new entities, M&A, restructurings, and project financing.
- Work closely with the US‑based accounting team across multiple jurisdictions.
Qualifications
- 5–8+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience with US GAAP is required.
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Experience with multiple legal entities, SPVs, project companies, or similar structures.
- Strong quarterly and year‑end reporting experience.
- Experience working with external auditors and tax advisers.
- Strong Excel and accounting/ERP skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a lean, international organization.
- Experience in private equity, asset management, renewable energy, project finance, or another complex multi‑entity environment is highly desirable.
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred, but not required
