A STEM or Sustainability Graduate is required to join an independent sustainability and engineering consultancy in Southampton, Hampshire, offering hybrid working. The starting salary is between £28k to £32k.

This role involves providing insight, including specialist thermal modelling calculations, to support the creation of sustainable building designs. The successful candidate will receive training and mentoring to support their learning and career development within sustainability.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Sustainability strategies
  • Auditing
  • Building Regulations Part L assessments
  • Energy modelling and assessment
  • Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk assessments
  • Advising clients on how to reduce energy use through engineering design and specification
  • Working with design teams including architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors, and specialist consultants
  • Advising on building services aspects of BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes
  • Site visits to construction sites to inspect building services installations
  • Advising on building-integrated renewable energy

Experience and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in a STEM discipline – for example, physics, maths, science, engineering, building services engineering, sustainability, or environmental engineering.
  • Interest in sustainability with the ability to understand technical concepts.
  • Keen to learn to become a fully fledged sustainability consultant.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Able to start immediately.
  • A full driving licence is desirable.
